The hike in 2010 of pump prices in Romania was groundless and did not reflect the evolution of international quotes for crude oil, exchange rates and duties and fees, while most of the local oil firms reported significant losses, and their real profits were not reflected accordingly.

Nicola Calabro, general manager of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania has ended his four-year mandate in Romania. He will be named general manager of Banca di Trento e Bolzano, part of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, where he worked at the very beginning of his career back in 1987.

Romania has often been labeled as one of history’s greatest survivors. A past of invasions and occupations, Romania has recently undergone dynamic social and economic changes and joined the EU in 2007. While the country attempts to leave behind its communist past, present day attitudes and traditions still reflect this part of its turbulent history. Modest attitudes and behaviors coupled with Orthodox Christian beliefs reflect their simple-minded and down-to-earth mentality that has been shaped by years of hardship.

Romanian Bogdan Mustata is one of the four winners of the Sundance Institute/Mahindra Global Filmmaking Award. His film project, called 'Wolf' (Lupu'), joins three other projects in Israel, Malaysia and Mexico. Each of the winners will receive a USD 10,000 cash prize, attendance at industry meetings at the Sundance Film Festival, mentoring from Institute staff and participation in a feature film program lab.

PwC Romania has two new partners in its Advisory department, Andrej Vizjak (in picture) and Bogdan Belciu have been named partners with PwC Romania's advisory department. The company now has 20 partners.

Mother Africa Circus of Joy, currently on a world tour, will perform in front of the Bucharest audience on February 27 at Sala Palatului. 40 famous artists from different countries of the African continent like Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe and South Africa will present ingenious numbers of acrobatics, jugglers, contortionism, music and traditional dances.
