Living exhibit of exotic butterflies opens at Bucharest museum

The tropical butterflies exhibition called Colors get wings opens July 1 at the Grigore Antipa Natural History Museum in Bucharest.

The exhibition features live butterflies originating from Asia, Africa or South America, and allows visitors to witness unique moments, like the one when the adult butterfly leaves its chrysalis and spreads its wings for the first time.

Butterfly species such as the Forest giant owl (Caligo eurilochus), the Emperor (Morpho peleides), or the Emerald swallowtail (Papilio palinurus) are among those included in the exhibition.

The exhibition will stay open until September 17. It can be visited Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 18:00.

Tickets cost RON 10 for children, students and pensioners and RON 12 for adults. Children younger than 3 have free access.
