Local IT firm wins contracts with Defense Ministry, Romania’s National Bank

Romanian IT company Ymens Teamnet, which is part of the group Teamnet, founded by the controversial, currently missing Romanian investor Sebastian Ghita, has won a contract with the Defense Ministry to supply 8,000 Microsoft software licenses. The two-year contract was attributed for RON 13.3 million (EUR 2.9 million) following a public tender, according to local Profit.ro.

Ymens Teamnet has also won a EUR 1.6 million contract with Romania’s National Bank (BNR) to develop the institution’s communications infrastructure and an inter-bank communications network, according to a notice published on Thursday on Romania’s electronic public procurement system SEAP.

Ymens Teamnet recorded a turnover of EUR 14.6 million last year, up from EUR 5.8 million in 2014. Its net profit rose from around EUR 8,500 to EUR 1.1 million in 2015.

Teamnet International has a stake of 52% in the company whereas the other shareholders include TNI Stock Invest – 25.25%, and Invest Guidance – 22.73%.

Teamnet International, a company owned by Sebastian Ghita until 2012, is one of the IT local companies, together with UTI and Siveco, which won some of the highest amounts from contracts concluded with public institutions for software products between 2011 and 2016, according to a report published by the Prime Minister’s Control Body at the beginning of December.

Teamnet International had total revenues of EUR 72.8 million in 2015, and total debts of EUR 56.8 million at the end of last year, according to the report sent to the Finance Ministry. The company is currently controlled by its CEO, Bogdan Padiu, who bought the majority stake in Teamnet from Ghita in 2012. Sebastian Ghita sold his businesses in 2012 when he was elected a member in Romania’s Chamber of Deputies.
