Local telecom groups invest 10% of their revenues in infrastructure
Local telecom operators will invest about 10% of their revenues in the telecommunications infrastructure in the next period, according to an analysis carried out by a fiber-optic network supplier.
A collaboration between telecom operators would bring savings of up to 7%. International groups Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Vodafone, and local RCS&RDS are the biggest investors in the Romanian telecom sector.
The telecom companies will invest in increasing their 4G and 4G+ coverage, data centers, and cloud areas in the next period.
At the beginning of last month, the Government approved the building of broadband communication networks with national coverage. According to Romania’s Digital Strategy, Romania should reach an Internet speed of minimum 30 Mbps for all households, and at least 50% of all households should have internet speeds of over 100 Mbps.
