Local telecom provider launches TV channel for Romanian films
Digital Cable Systems (DCS), a local telecom company that operates through the AKTA brand, will launch the Cinemaraton channel on March 30, which is exclusively dedicated to Romanian movies.
The channel will broadcast over 1,000 Romanian films per year, accompanied by comments, analyzes and unpublished information from the set.
DCS was founded in 2005 following the merger of several smaller operators on the cable TV market. Two years later, the investment fund PineBridge paid EUR 45 million for the majority stake in the company.
At the beginning of March, AKTA group announced that it would invest EUR 17 million in launching mobile phone services in Romania, as well as a TV channel that will run only Romanian movies. The brand AKTA is active in the local market via Digital Cable Systems (DCS) and AKTA Telecom.
The group’s revenues exceeded EUR 52 million last year, up 16% over 2015.
