Mandatory private pension funds’ assets, up 27% in Romania
The mandatory private pension funds in Romania reached assets of RON 31.5 billion (EUR 6.9 billion) at the end of December last year, up 27.5% compared to the end of 2015, according to data from the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
Government securities accounted for the largest share of their assets, namely RON 20.35 billion (EUR 4.5 billion) or 64.6%, reports local Agerpres.
Shares in listed companies ranked second, with a contribution of 18.7% or EUR 1.3 billion. Bank deposits amounted to EUR 499 million, or 7.2% of the total assets.
The mandatory private pension funds had almost 6.8 million participants in December 2016. Several pension funds were active on this pillar, including Alico, Aripi, AZT Viitorul tau, BCR, BRD, NN, and Vital.
