Mangalia-Saturn seafront revamped with EU money

08 March 2019

The Mangalia-Saturn seafront on the Romanian Black Sea coast will be revamped with EU funds, the value of the investment amounting to about RON 23 million (over EUR 4.8 million).

The mayor of the Romanian seaside city of Mangalia, Radu Cristian, signed the contract on March 6, Mangalia City Hall announced.

The project targets the revamping of the Mangalia-Saturn seafront on a segment of 2 km, including the full restoration of the pedestrian area and the public lighting system, the arrangement of a green space, and access ways. The City Hall also said that all the areas with level differences and designed for pedestrian traffic will be equipped with access stairs and ramps for people with disabilities.

Mangalia City Hall is also implementing other EU-funded projects aimed at improving tourism infrastructure. One of them targets the tourism development in the Saturn resort, while another one, which is in the pre-contracting phase, is aimed at modernizing the Neptun-Olimp resort.

The municipality also signed two other EU-funded projects since the beginning of this year, one for the rehabilitation of a church and another one for the modernization of Mangalia’s old town through a Romanian-Bulgarian cross-border program.
