Marathon, concerts, Garden Party organized in Bucharest for King’s Day this week
The King’s Day (in Romanian - Ziua Regalitatii), celebrated on May 10, will be marked through several events organized in Bucharest between May 7 and May 10.
According to the Royal Family’s program, the festivities will start on May 7, 19:00, with a special ceremony of investiture of Her Royal Highness Princess Mary of Romania with the Order of the Crown of Romania, Grand Cross class. The event will take place at Sala Regilor and will also mark the Princess’ 50th birthday.
The ceremony will be followed by a dinner and the event will be attended by representatives of the political authority, of the civil society and the private sector.
The series of events dedicated to King’s Day will continue on Friday (May 9), 10:00, with the Carol I, a life dedicated to Romania symposium, to be held at Carol I Central University Library.
Also on May 9, 19:00, Sala Radio will host a Royal Concert. At this event, the public will listen to the Ninth Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, under the baton of Tiberiu Soare.
The third edition of the Royal Marathon will start on May 10. The participants will run 10.5 km around Herastrau Park in Bucharest and both start and arrival points will be at Elisabeta Palace.
A Garden Party will be organized on May 10, 17:30, at the Elisabeta Palace’s Gardens. The event will gather 6,000 guests, including personalities in local politics, as well as personalities from the academic, cultural, scientific and political areas, representatives of the civil society and business environment, and diplomats. The 6,000 guests will represent all of Romania’s counties and the Republic of Moldova.
Camerata Regala will also hold a concert at the Romanian Athenaeum on May 10.
King Michael of Romania (in picture) will not attend the events.
