Martifer opens its first solar park in Romania
Portuguese firm Martifer Solar finalized a 1.5 MW solar park in Vrancea county, in Romania. The project, completed at end July, was connected to the power grid this month. The value of the investment in the park was not yet disclosed.
Earlier in May this year, Martifer announced the opening of its Romanian office after signing an agreement for a large-scale photovoltaic installation in Romania. “We’re one of the first players entering the Romanian photovoltaic market with this business, after having developed this business in the Balkan region,” said Pedro Pereira, Regional Manager with Martifer Solar for the Mediterranean region and executive administrator of the Romanian office.
Martifer has been active in Romania since 2004, with activities in various fields, employing 500 people in the country.
The industrial group has 3,000 employees worldwide, focusing on metal structures and solar energy. Martifer Solar posted revenues of EUR 293 million in 2011. The company has implemented over 200 MW in photovoltaic energy projects in the world so far.
