Owner of McDonald’s franchise in Romania invests EUR 10 mln in digital
Maltese group Premier Capital, the owner of the McDonald’s franchise in Romania and five other countries, plans to invest EUR 10 million in digital innovation.
The group thus aims to improve the customer experience in restaurants and on mobile. It will invest EUR 4.5 million in implementing the integrated operating platform in 50 new and existing restaurants in the Baltics, Greece, Malta and Romania.
The integrated platform combines the cash register order system, the digital order system and payment system and the new processes for preparing food in the kitchen.
The investments will continue in the following years and by 2021 all of the group’s 200 restaurants will have the new platform installed.
The group has also invested some EUR 0.4 million in developing its mobile communication and launching the McDonald’s app. In Romania, the app has reached 230,000 downloads.
McDonald’s is the leader of the local restaurant market, with a turnover of EUR 135 million in 2016.
