McDonald’s wants to reach 25 McCafés in Romania by year-end
McDonald’s plans to open two new McCafé coffee shops in Brasov and Timisoara by the end of the year. The McCafé network will thus reach 25 units.
The coffee shops represent about 6% of the McDonald’s business, which is estimated at EUR 115 million per year.
This year the fast-food chain has opened four new cafes in Bucharest. The total investment in the local McCafé network amounts to RON 7.5 million (EUR 1.6 million).
The first McCafé was opened in Romania in December 2010. The company currently has 15 cafes in Bucharest and eight in other Romanian cities.
McDonald’s owns 68 restaurants in 21 cities in Romania and is the biggest local restaurant chain in terms of sales. The company was acquired this year by Maltese group Premier Capital, which also holds the McDonald’s franchise in Greece, the Baltics, and Malta.
