Medical group Romgermed gets EU funding for medical research, plans building new EUR 3 mln laboratory in Romania
Romgermed medical group’s laboratories recently obtained EU funding for a research project on inflammatory diseases, which is a first for Romania, the company has announced.
The medical group’s project, which was created and submitted one and a half years ago, is part of the Sectorial Operational Programme - Research and Development and its main objectives are research, development and innovation in healthcare. Within the project, teachers and health professionals abroad, as well as leading specialists in the medical and scientific world will share their professional knowledge with local ones.
Once the project will be implemented, the medical group will build a new laboratory, following an investment of EUR 3 million, reads a statement of the company.
“We consider this step to be not only important but also extremely beneficial to the medical system in our country,” said Ramona Beloiu, medical director of Romgermed Group’s laboratories division and project director.
According to the company, the Romgermed project was selected from a series of applications mainly due to its staff, laboratories facilities, performance in laboratory tests processes and continuous investments.
Romgermed Group was established in 1999 and in 2011 it had a turnover of some EUR 5.2 million and a profit of around EUR 330,000.
