Medical subscriptions, tax exempt up to EUR 400 per year in Romania
An employee choosing a healthcare private subscription can be exempt from paying his taxes within the limit of EUR 400 per year.
The new Government amended a law from last year to allow the deductibility of medical services, according to a press release of the Patronage of Private Medical Services Providers – PALMED.
Cristian Hotoboc, PALMED president, said that the measure represents a normalization of the market, and that he hopes that the new law will apply to the healthcare private subscriptions paid by the employers too, not only the employees.
The members of the patronage said that health insurances and medical subscriptions can co-exist because they cover different needs. Healthcare subscriptions cover the prevention and medical education areas whereas the health insurances can be accessed in serious medical cases.
A survey carried out by GfK on public and private healthcare services in Romania showed that the private healthcare market has a serious development potential, as most of Romanians only have public medical insurance.
