MediHelp targets increasing number of Romanians working in Europe with new private health insurance

26 June 2012

The increasing number of Romanians traveling, living, studying or working abroad triggered private medical health insurance provider MediHelp to launch a package targeting this group of potential customers.

MediHelp Healthcare Plan, the newly launched package, offers access to medical services in private hospitals and clinics anywhere in Europe.  The cost of an insurance stays between EUR 1,000 and EUR 2,500 per year, payable monthly or in bulk.

“We learned that more and more Romanians choose to go abroad, be it for business, studies or just for leisure. We wanted to fulfill the needs of our clients to have access to medical services in private hospitals and clinics anywhere in Europe,” said Zahal Levy, president of MediHelp International.

This year, 20 percent of Romanians plan to work abroad, 8 percent to travel and 1 percent to study abroad, according to a recent CURS study, quoted by MediHelp. Moreover, the number of Romanians who study abroad went up by 52 percent in the last 10 years, according to UNESCO Higher Education Statistics.

Romanian prefer countries such as Italy, France, Germany, UK and Spain for their studies, and Germany, Spain, UK and Nordic countries for work.

MediHelp is one of the main private health insurance brokers in Central and Eastern Europe, having been active in Romania since 1999.
