Mega Image could reach sales of EUR 1 bln in Romania this year
Local retailer Mega Image, which operates 490 supermarkets in Romania, posted a turnover of RON 2.2 billion (EUR 488 million) in the first half of the year, up 32% over the same period last year.
If the growth pace maintains in the second part of the year, the retailer could pass the EUR 1 billion threshold, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
During the first six months, the company’s net profit tripled to EUR 22.6 million, the equivalent of the profit earned by the retailer in the entire 2015.
The growth pace recorded by Mega Image is one of the highest in the local retail. Hypermarket networks such as Kaufland or Carrefour saw increases of 10-15% whereas Dedeman, the largest DIY retailer, recorded a growth of 26%.
The business increase is related to an overall positive evolution of consumption in Romania, as well as the opening of new stores.
