Mega Image Romania keeps investing EUR 50 mln per year in expansion
Belgian retailer Mega Image will keep expanding at the same pace in the next two years, with up to 100 stores per year, said Vassilis Stavrou, the head of Mega Image Romania.
The retailer will also open its second logistics center in Stefanesti, this year, Stavrou added, cited by local Mediafax.
In the past years, the company has invested some EUR 50 million per year to open 50 to 70 stores annually. In 2015, Mega Image planned to open 100 new stores, but it inaugurated only 71 units.
The retailer currently has over 470 stores of various formats. In the next years, it will continue to expand in the areas where it’s already present, namely Bucharest, Ilfov, Brasov, Constanta, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ialomita, and Prahova.
The VAT rate cut on food from 24% to 9%, in June last year, has boosted the local retail and helped Mega Image increase its sales last year, according to the company’s general manager.
