Mihail Gorbaciov pays visit to Romania
Former Soviet Union president Mihail Gorbaciov is visiting Romania today, having reached the country by his private plane which landed on Baneasa airport. Gorbaciov will attend a private meeting of 22 people, among which former Romanian presidents Ion Iliescu, Emil Constantinescu, ministers, ambassadors and representatives of several companies. He will also attend the launch of a new newspaper, called Puterea (“The Power”). The now 80-year old former URSS president came to Romania in 1989, the year when the communist regime fell in Romania.
