Milk production up by 15.5% in Romania, imported milk down
The local milk production increased by 15.5%, with 30,844 tonnes, in the first 11 months of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013, totaling 230,201 tons.
Meanwhile, the amount of imported milk went down by 20.5%, from 87,722 tonnes to 69,763 tonnes at the end of November, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In the same period, the sour cream production went up by 11.5% with 5,533 tonnes, butter production, by 7.5% with 661 tonnes.
For cheese the growth was 6.2% - up 4,047 tonnes, for yoghurt or drinking yoghurt - 3.7% or 5,619 tonnes.
The quantity of imported raw milk decreased by 33.7% from 8,702 tonnes in November 2013 to 5,769 tonnes in November 2014.
