Ministry: 27 Romanians detained in Hungary for human trafficking
The Hungarian police have informed the Romanian Embassy in Budapest that a Romanian citizen was detained near Kistelek on Sunday morning, August 30. He is suspected of human trafficking, according to a statement of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This comes after three other Romanians were detained for the same offence on August 29.
A total of 27 Romanians have been detained in Hungary for human trafficking since August 26. These arrests came as a big wave of immigrants have been trying to reach European countries in the past weeks.
So far, none of the Romanians has requested consular assistance. The Romanian Embassy to Budapest stays in contact with the Hungarian authorities on this matter, according to the Ministry’s statement.
