Ministry cancels works on Buzesti – Berzei street in Bucharest after opposing NGOs victorious in court
Romania's Regional Development and Tourism Ministry Elena Udrea has asked the Construction Inspectorate to cancel works on the Buzesti – Berzei street projects in Bucharest until a new project will be developed. The Ministry is currently looking at a new Urban Zonal Plan for the area, after the previous plan was canceled and the construction site authorizations have been suspended. Udrea has made this announcement after meeting representatives of several NGOs which have been protesting against the street works.
The street project, which should connect Buzesti – Berzei and Uranus in Bucharest has been opposed by NGOs, which have criticized the expropriations process and the demolition authorizations for buildings which were labeled historic monuments.
Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu announced late last year that the North and South of the capital city will be connected by the Buzesti – Berzei – Uranus street.
