Two national digital TV licenses will be up for grabs in Romania until the end of this year, as well as 40 regional digital TV and 19 local licenses. The National Communication Authority ANCOM will sell off the two national digital licenses which were not sold during the previous bid, together with the 40 regional and 19 local multiplexes. Prices per license vary between EUR 1,000 – the cost of a digital TV license for a secondary locality and EUR 300,000 – for a national multiplex.

Earlier this year, ANCOM sold all three digital TV licenses to the National RadioCommunications Company (SNR), for some EUR 1 million.

The new bid round will finish at end-February 2015, and will be followed by an allocation round, and by mid-June 2015, the new digital TV licenses will be allotted and can become functional. Licenses are valid for 10 years.

Those who will buy the two national digital TV licenses have to install and put into operation at least 36 receivers by May 2017.
