Most Romanian teenagers want to make a future in their home country

Most Romanian teenagers don’t want to emigrate anymore as they think that Romania is a country where they can be successful.

Most of Romania’s young people are determined to make a future in their home country, according to a study conducted by Open-I Research at the initiative of Educatia Azi. Only 16% of respondents believe that they can have a better life only if they go abroad, the research shows.

Moreover, 73% of the teenagers want to make the Romanian society better through work.

The young Romanians’ change of attitude can also be seen when it comes to the professional success. The study reveals that 84% of the teenagers are convinced that their efforts will be rewarded, and 54% believe that they can accomplish what they want without nepotism.

The education also plays a significant role in the Romanian teenagers’ life, 85% thinking that this is the most important base on which they can build the professional success.

According to the study, 39% of the teenagers like to get involved in extracurricular activities in their spare time, 27% like to practice sports, 25% do artistic activities, 23% like to volunteer for various causes, and 23% participate in school Olympiads.

Moreover, some of them also seek new and modern ways of expressing themselves in the online environment. Thus, 13% of them have a blog or a vlog (video communication).

The study was conducted in September and October 2015 on 357 teenagers aged between 14 and 18.
