Ranking reveals most valuable Romanian brands
Local car producer Dacia is the most valuable Romanian brand, with a value of EUR 1.2 billion, according to a ranking launched by Brand Finance, cited by local Profit.ro.
The online retailer eMag ranks second, with a brand value of EUR 361 million, followed by the DIY retailer Dedeman, with a brand estimated at EUR 206 million. Dedeman is also the most valuable brand with a fully Romanian ownership.
Other valuable Romanian brands include Petrom, with a EUR 162 million value, Digi RCS&RDS, estimated at EUR 150 million, Banca Transilvania, with a brand of EUR 130 million and Bitdefender, valued at EUR 112 million.
New brands such as eMAG, Dedeman, Digi, or Bitdefender, which were created and developed by entrepreneurs in the last 28 years, occupy more than half of the Brand Finance Romania 50 ranking, generating a total value of more than EUR 1.5 billion.
Other brands that are also important for the public, such as airline Tarom or railways company CFR, are neglected by the state-owner, despite their considerable potential, according to the report. However, there is also a notable exception: CEC Bank, also state-owned, had a brand valued at EUR 56 million.
Brand Finance is the world's largest independent strategic consulting and business valuation firm.
