Movies with political themes to be screened at Cinepolitica Extra Time festival in Bucharest this week

Cinepolitica Extra Time, an “off-season” event of the Cinepolitica International Film Festival, will run at Elvire Popesco cinema in Bucharest between September 23 and September 25.

Five movies with political themes will be screened during the event, namely the documentary All That Glitters - directed by Tomas Kudrna, US documentary The Central Park Five, The Exam - directed by Péter Bergendy, The Company You Keep - directed by Robert Redford, and political thriller Closed Circuit.

The first movie - All That Glitters, scheduled for September 23, 18:00, focuses on a hot topic for Romanian society in the context of the recent protest and debates against Rosia Montana gold mining project: the fate of villagers in Kyrgyzstan, facing tons of cyanide resulting from exploiting a gold mine.

One of the best documentaries of 2012 according to The New York Times, namely The Central Park Five will be screened from 20:00.

On September 24, film lovers can attend the screening of Hungarian movie The Exam, at 18:00, followed by Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep at 20:00.

The event ends with the screening of the political thriller Closed Circuit, on September 24, 20:00.
