Music festivals, cultural events chosen for EUR 1.3 million funding from Romania' National Cultural Fund

animestSeveral festivals and cultural events organized in Romania recently won financing from the Administration of the National Cultural Fund, which in total awarded prizes of some EUR 1.3 million. The fund awarded some RON 414,000 – or some EUR 92,000 – for the the Art of Show – dance. Meanwhile, the eXplore Dance Festival received RON 65,000 – or some EUR 14,000, which was among the highest individual prizes in this category.

In the music category, 13 projects were approved for financing, including Opera Night – also around EUR 14,000, Sibiu International Music festival – some EUR 14,000 – as well as Jazz in the park, with a similar level of financing. The total value of financing of these categories was of RON 895,000 – or some EUR 200,000.

The Theater section awarded 19 projects, including Migration Stories- documentary theater project, with some EUR 10,600. The total financing for this section was of RON 828,000 – or the equivalent of some EUR 184,000.

Museum Activities received RON 450,000 – or some EUR 100,000, which went to 11 projects, including Night of the Museums 2013 in 4 Parts, which got some EUR 11,000, The complete guide to museums and collections in Romania on mobile phone – some EUR 4,700.

The Architecture and design category had 7 winners, with a total of RON 360,000 – or some EUR 80,000.

Visual Arts and New Media had the biggest financing package, RON 1 million or some EUR 240,000, which went to 18 projects. These included the International Photo Festival Romania, with some EUR 14,000 in financing, Cinema in the park, with a similar financing package, the Anim'Est festival, which also got EUR 14,000, as well as the Days of Romanian Film, with a similar size financial award.

The Cultural category found 10 projects worthy of receiving financing, with a total of EUR 100,000, and winners include Young Music @ Street Delivery, with some EUR 10,000.

10 projects with a total financing of EUR 120,000 were awarded at the Professional Development section.

The category National Cultural Patrimony selected 19 projects which received some EUR 180,000 in financing. Immaterial Cultural Patrimony has 18 approved projects and financing of some EUR 180,000. Some of the events approved here were the wood and creativity camp in Mioveni, Textile production workshop, Wedding in Transylvania, among others.

The winners who made it past this first stage in the competition have to submit all needed documents by April 12 to sign the financing contracts.

The Administration of the National Cultural Fund was created in 2005 and finances actions, projects or cultural programs.
