NATO aircraft to be stationed in Romania, new naval exercise in the Black Sea
A group of NATO aircrafts will be stationed in Romania, together with their related staff made of 150 to 250 people, according to a letter sent by President Traian Basescu to the Romanian Parliament.
These allied forces will cooperate with Romanian air forces on missions for NATO Air Police, according to the same document. The funding of these missions will be provided by Romania while the operating and maintenance costs for the aircrafts will be covered by their country of origin.
This NATO detachment is part of the 18 measures package for strengthening security in the region which was approved by NATO members.
A new international naval exercise will also take place in the Black Sea this week. American destroyer USS Ross and Ukrainian military ships will coordinate the exercise in which Romanian frigate King Ferdinand will also join, according to Digi 24 news station.
