New car registrations down by almost half in Romania in 2011, but goods vehicles up
Romanians bought and registered fewer cars last year than in 2010. New registrations of cars went down by 42.2 percent in 2011 compared to the same period in the previous, while new registrations of goods vehicles increased by 54.6 percent, according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS).
In the fourth quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2010, registrations of new cars decreased by 54.5 percent, according to INS, while those for goods vehicles went up by 45.8 percent. New car registrations in Q3 2011 were 15.3 percent up on the third quarter in 2010.
