New Dacia car registrations in France, up by a third in first half

Romanian car brand Dacia’s new car registrations in France went up by over 30 percent in the first half of the year, to 58,582 units, registering the highest growth among car brands with significant sales. The overall French market registered an increase of 2.9 percent, to 958,776 units, according to data from the French carmakers association, quoted by local Mediafax.

Dacia’s market share also increased from 4.82 percent in the first half of 2013, to 6.11 percent this year.

Only Lancia and Jeep recorded stronger growths than the Romanian brand. Lancia’s registrations doubled to over 4,000 cars in January-June, compared to the same period in 2013, while Jeep recorded an increase of 49.4 percent, to 732 units.

The sales of French group Renault, which also owns Dacia, increased by 15.3 percent to 253,887 cars.
