New edition of the Romanian Film Festival at Stanford University, UC Berkeley and San Francisco University this April
Feature films directed by Romania’s Cristian Mungiu, Tudor Giurgiu, Nae Caranfil and Tudor Jurgiu will be screened at the fourth edition of the Romanian Film Festival at Stanford University, University of California Berkeley and San Francisco State University.
This year’s edition will be organized between April 26 and April 29, the event’s theme being “Transitions: Spirituality and Contemporary Life in Romania”.
The program includes Cristian Mungiu’s Beyond the Hills (Dupa Dealuri), which won awards for best screenplay and best actresses at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, The Japanese Dog (Cainele Japonez) directed by Turdor Jurgiu, Sundays on Leave (E pericoloso sporgersi) directed by Nae Caranfil, Jews for Sale (Evrei de Vanzare) - Radu Gabrea, and Tudor Giurgiu’s Superman, Spiderman or Batman.
The special guests of the event are Romanian actresses Cosmina Stratan and Cristina Flutur, joint Best Actress Award, Cannes Film Festival, 2012, and director Serban Oliver Tataru.
