New passenger car registrations down 34% in first nine months in Romania

New registrations of cars for passenger transport went down by 34.5 percent in the first nine months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010, while the new registrations of vehicles for goods transport increased by 58.7 percent, according to the Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS).

In the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2010, the new car for passenger transport registrations decreased by 38.2 percent, while the new registrations of cars for goods transport went up by 73.3 percent, the most significant growth being reported in the truck segment.

Compared to the second quarter in 2011, the new registrations of car for passenger transport went up by 28.7 percent in the third quarter, and the new registrations of vehicles for goods transport also increased by 12.4 percent, according to INS.
