Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis last week named 14 new ambassadors who will represent the country’s interests in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, as well as at the UN and EU.

The former Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) director George Maior will take over as Romania’s ambassador to the US as soon as he gets the American authorities’ OK. He will replace Iulian Buga, who will be Romania’s new ambassador to Sweden.

Mihnea Ioan Motoc will replace Ion Jinga as ambassador to the UK. Motoc was previously Romania’s representative to the EU.

Bogdan Mazuru, Romania’s former ambassador to France will move to Austria and journalist and political commentator Emil Hurezeanu will be the new Romanian ambassador to Germany.
