New vehicle registrations go up 20% in Romania in nine months

The number of new vehicle registrations rose by 19.6% in the first nine months of this year to almost 68,000.

In September, Romanians bought over 13,150 new vehicles, up 47% over the same month in 2015. Some 9,300 of them were passenger cars, up 62.6% over September last year.

Dacia was the top-selling brand, with over 2,250 units registered in September, up 40% compared to September last year. It was followed by Skoda, with 971 units, and Volkswagen, with 952. Ford sold 747 units whereas Opel sold 621 cars in September.

Some 202 new motorcycles and mopeds were sold in September, up 68% year-on-year.
