Nicolae Tonitza's "Afize" painting, on auction this July in Mamaia, Romania
The painting "Afize", signed by Romanian Nicolae Tonitza, will be put for sale at the Orientalism Auction organized by the Artmark auction house on July 17, at the Vega Hotel in Mamaia, with an estimate price between EUR 90,000 and EUR 160,000, according to Artmark's website. This work is one of the painter's most representative achievements in the last year of life, 1938.
In the Orientalism Auction’s 2011 edition, art lovers will find some charming works made by artists like Nicolae Darascu, Iosif Iser, Kimon Loghi, Samuel Mutzner, Theodor Pallady, Gheorghe Petrascu, Nicolae Tonitza. The selection will have 79 works made by representative Romanian artists, estimated at a total value of nearly EUR 1 million.
Other important paintings that are going to be auctioned are "Peasant Interior" (Interior taranesc) signed by Iosif Iser, with an estimated value of EUR 20,000 to 40,000, and "Balchik View" (Vedere asupra Balcicului) by Nicholas Darascu, with an estimated value between EUR 14,000 to EUR 20,000.
