Night of Museums gathers over 100,000 sleepless visitors in Romania
Over 100,000 people visited the main museums and cultural institutions in Romania for the Night of Museums on Saturday evening (May 18 ). The Antipa Museum in Bucharest was the most sought after, with over 21,600 people who took advantage of the night schedule and visited the natural history exhibition.
The Bellu museum attracted 10,000 people, while the Village Museum – open air and vulnerable because of the rain – some 2,400.
The National Art Museum gathered over 13,000 people, the same as the History Museum. The Romanian Peasant Museum got 5,000 visitors, while the Fire Fighters Museum, for the first time part of the event, got only 3,000 visitors.
Organizers of the event expect to exceed the record of 150,000 people at the similar event last year.
Over 3,000 museums in Europe joined the cultural event, of which 100 institutions in Romania.
