There was no Romanian on board of the Air Algerie plane which crashed in Mali last week, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry has announced. This was confirmed by Burkina Faso officials, and Air Algerie representatives.

The investigation into the causes of the crash and the passenger identification procedure is still ongoing. Romanian officials will continue to be in touch with the foreign authorities in charge of the identification process, which is difficult and lengthy.

Previously, the ministry had said one Romanian was among the 100 people on that plane, and no survivor was found.
