Number of blood donors increases by a quarter in Romania
The number of blood donors has increased by 25% this year, following campaigns and mobile caravans, said Doina Gosa, the director of the Bucharest Transfusion Centre.
It is the first time when hospitals don’t have a blood shortage. People donate blood even on Saturdays and Sundays.
No hospital has reported on the lack of blood, not even for rare blood types, said Doina Gosa, reports local Mediafax.
“We can finally talk of solidarity on blood donation,” she added.
Starting January, people can donate blood at the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital. It is the second donation center in a hospital, after the one in the Fundeni Clinical Institute, which opened in October 2014.
The Health Ministry carried out a campaign to support the openings.
