About 15 companies and consortiums have submitted offers to build the segments 3 and 4 of the Craiova-Pitesti express road, reports local Economica.net. The deadline for submitting the offers was yesterday.

The third segment will have a length of 31.7 kilometers. The contract amounts to RON 904.8 million (EUR 196 million), without VAT.

The Italian firm Astaldi is among the bidders. Astaldi has earned several infrastructure contracts in Romania, including the construction of the subway line connecting Bucharest’s city center to Drumul Taberei.

The fourth segment of the Craiova-Pitesti road will have a length of 31.8 kilometers. This contract amounts to RON 909.6 million (EUR 197.8 million), without VAT. Both segments need to be designed in one year and built in two years. The guarantee period amounts to 60 months.

The whole cost of the Craiova-Pitesti express road is estimated at RON 3.7 billion (EUR 820 million), without VAT. The road has a total length of about 121 kilometers and 35 companies have submitted offers for this project.
