An original Olympic torch from the London Games will be among the items auctioned off for charity at this year's Edelweiss Ball. Now in its 12th year, the charity ball will be held this year in the Radisson Blu hotel on November 17.

Along with the Olympic torch, VIP tickets to a Grand Prix including a meeting with McLaren Mercedes team drivers, items donated by celebrities in Hollywood and a visit to a movie set and a meeting with the famous director and writer Terry Gilliam will also be auctioned at the Edelweiss Charity Ball.

The annual event is organized by the Hospice Casa Sperantei to raise funds to support free care services for children and adults with terminal illnesses. Last year, the ball raised EUR 180,000 for the charity.

Hospice Casa Sperantei is a non-governmental charity organization founded in Brasov, in 1992, by Graham Perolls from Britain, with the purpose of introducing and developing specialized services to care for terminally ill patients in advanced stages. It is the first unit of its kind in Romania and a center of excellence for Eastern Europe in the field of palliative care.
