One man lost his life and five were injured in a boat accident on lake Snagov, on Saturday night. The accident took place a little after midnight.

Two boats clashed some 200 meters away from shore. One of the boats apparently came from one of the restaurants on the lake shore and carried six people. A speedboat going way over the legal speed limit crashed into it causing it to sink.

A 27-year old local was driving the speedboat. He was also injured in the accident.

A 60-year old man who was initially reported as missing was found dead on Sunday. The other five occupants of the restaurant’s boat were injured and four of them were taken to the hospital in Bucharest.

The witnesses said they saw nothing on the lake and only heard the noise of the clash, which means that probably none of the boats had their lights on. An investigation into this accident is underway.
