Only one in ten women board members in listed companies in Romania
Only 11% of the board members of the large listed companies in Romania are women, close to the global average.
Romania is far behind Norway, which is the highest ranked country on this criteria, with a 36.7% women participation rate in listed companies’ boards, according to a Deloitte global study.
In Romania, some 9.7% of all non-executive directors and 25.4% of the senior executives in large listed companies are women.
“Women continue to be insufficiently represented in company boards, considering the 40% objective. The share of women directors has dropped to a critical level in the past years. Significant improvements were registered in the financial sector, and in listed companies, as these comply with most corporate governance rules,” said Adriana Lobda, Partener Deloitte Romania.
Romania currently doesn’t impose any quota for women’s representation in boards and upper management positions.
