Amateur and professional athletes will test their limits on Romania’s famous mountain road Transfagarasan, on September 17. The event, called Transfier, is one of the toughest triathlons in the world.
During the event, the participants will have to swim 1.9 km in Vidraru Lake, pedal 90 km on Transfagarasan, run 21 km around Vidraru Lake, and climb 392 steps to the Iron Man statue.
“With a level difference of 1,700 m for cycling and 700 m for running, Transfier becomes one of the most challenging Half Iron Man in the world, surpassing the famous Savage Man in the US,” according to the Romanian Triathlon Federation.
The total prizes have a value of over RON 35,000, with RON 20,000 being money prizes. Find more information about the event here.
