Online flower shops in Romania to double sales for this year’s Valentine’s Day
The online sales of flowers in Romania are expected to reach a value of EUR 60,000 on this year’s Valentine’s Day, up 50 percent over the same period in 2011, according to the Romanian online retailer FlorideLux.ro.
The retailer also expects to double its sales in this period on a year-on-year basis, to some EUR 9,000.
“FlorideLux.ro’s sales for Valentine’s Day will be about 2 percent of the estimated turnover for this year, and we are confident that we’ll also report growth in the consolidated business,” said Marius Dosinescu, Business Development Manager, FlorideLux.ro. As a result, the company’s estimated turnover for 2012 amounts to EUR 450,000, up 20 percent over 2011.
The average order value for Valentine’s Day will be around EUR 45, but there will also be “men willing to spend over EUR 200 for flowers and gifts purchased online," adds Marius Dosinescu.
The Romanian online flower shop market is estimated to reach a value of EUR 3 million in 2012. “From 2011, due to increased general confidence in the online segment, the online and offline flower shops entered into direct competition on the market, and currently have a 60 percent common market,” said Marius Dosinescu.
Romanian FlorideLux.ro Group also includes brazidecraciun.ro, coroane.ro and cosuridelux.ro online stores, selling Christmas trees, funeral flowers and flower baskets.
