Online IT&C retailer eMAG exceeds EUR 100 mln sales threshold, wants EUR 150 mln this year
Romanian online IT&C retailer eMAG.ro posted sales of EUR 102 million last year, an increase of 60 percent on the previous year, the company has announced. It plans to further grow its sales to EUR 150 million this year.
“We have exceeded our ambitious objective set at the beginning of the year and, at the same time, we have exceeded the EUR 100 million threshold. The 2010 performance is due to the diversification and to new products and services, to more efficient and automatic internal processes, which ensure a better reaction to the market demands, as well as to the important number of corporate clients, attracted by personalized services,” said Iulian Stanciu, general manager and owner of eMAG (in picture).
He expects online retail to reach 20 percent of the total retail market in Romania. The online IT&C retail market grew by 60 percent last year, to around EUR 145 million, according to eMAG. The company's market share has thus reached 70 percent, according to its data. eMAG.ro had a traffic of 1.7 million unique visitors in the fourth quarter of last year.
