The volume of online payments in Romania reached EUR 121.4 million in the first nine months of this year, up 11 percent on the same period of 2010, according to a study by Romcard.

ePayment processed 89 percent of the online payments volume – around EUR 106.7 million. The shopping cart acquired online has diversified and included more flowers, books and gifts – up by 75, 76 and 64 percent respectively. The toys segment also went up by 56 percent. The value of the average shopping cart reached EUR 69.

Romcard estimates the value of the online payments in Romania could exceed EUR 160 million.
