31 October 2017

The value of online transactions in Romania increased by 44% in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year, to RON 1.9 billion (EUR 413 million), according to the PayU platform.

The number of online transactions rose by 37% during this period compared to the same period in 2016, PayU Romania country manager Marius Costin said yesterday.

The number of Europeans who buy online has doubled in the last ten years, from 29.7% in 2007 to 55% this year. Romanian companies begin to expand their businesses across the border, or are interested in this possibility, Costin added. Local companies are mostly interested in expanding to neighboring European countries.
