Only 18% of Romanians think their political leaders are doing a good job

22 October 2014

Only 18% of Romanians approve of the job performance of the country’s leaders, according to the results of a poll recently released by global research company Gallup.

The approval rate of Romanian political leaders is among the lowest in the world. The lowest approval rate is in Bosnia and Herzegovina (8%), followed by Bulgaria (13%), Greece (14%) and Czech Republic (15%).

For comparison, in Germany, the approval rate of the country’s leaders is the highest in Europe, at 65%.

“In countries where citizens feel free to say what they think of their country’s leadership, job approval ratings can be a useful barometer of how well the country and its residents are doing, and of residents’ faith that leadership is moving their country in the right direction,” according to Gallup.
