Oracle Romania CEO Sorin Mindrutescu returns to the helm of American Chamber of Commerce

Sorin Mindrutescu, the CEO of Oracle Romania was elected as president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, replacing Alexandra Gatej, who failed even to make the board this year. The AmCham elections took place on Thursday evening ( March 29 ).

Mindrutescu returns at AmCham's helm after a one-year hiatus. He was president of the board in 2009 and 2010. Mindrutescu was appointed CEO of Oracle Romania in January 2008, after working for the company since 2001. He is also the president of the Representatives Committee at Fondul Proprietatea.

Bogdan Balaci, General Manager of IBM Romania, and Cristian Colteanu, who runs GE's operations in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, are the new vice-presidents of AmCham's board. Tibor Pandi, General Manager of Citibank Romania, is the new treasurer.

The other members of AmCham board are Linda Griffin, the General Manager of Athenee Palace Hilton hotel, Violeta Ciurel, president of AXA Asigurari, Bogdan Ion, Managing Partner of Ernst&Young Romania and Moldova, Ronald Binkofski, CEO of Microsoft Romania, Mihaela Mitroi, Partner at PwC Romania, James Daniel Stewart, Vicepresident of Raiffeisen Bank, and Anda Todor, Managing Partner of Salans' Bucharest office.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) is a non-profit and non-political organization that promotes the commercial and economic interests of US, international and local business community in Romania.
