Oradea airport expands under EUR 16.5 mln project
The Airport of Oradea, in the western part of Romania, subordinated to the Bihor County Council, launched in the public procurement system (SEAP) the tender for the development and modernization of the airport infrastructure, an investment estimated to cost RON 81.5 mln (EUR 16.5 mln) excluding VAT.
The project is financed from European funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM) 2014-2020.
The design should be completed within six months, and the works should be completed in another seven months. The deadline for bidding is May 13, 2022.
The project involves extending the airport runway by 400 meters to 2,500 meters and will allow the operation of higher capacity aircraft. A modern telecommunications system will also be purchased and installed.
"We intend to award the contract by the autumn. Work will kick off at the beginning of next year and, by the end of 2023, should be completed because the financing period expires at the end of next year. At the same time, the expropriation procedures of the lands affected by the expansion of the airport and the approval of the documentation for signing the financing contract are carried out," Ilie Bolojan, president of the Bihor County Council, said.
