Orange Romania's 4G network covers 81% of the country’s population
Orange Romania’s 4G services are currently available in over 6,700 localities across the country, after the company has expanded its 4G network in 2,200 new settlements last year, according to a statement from the telecom operator.
Thus, Orange currently holds the largest 4G network in Romania, covering 97% of the urban population and 81% of the total population.
In the last quarter of 2016, Orange Romania has expanded its 4G network in more than 1,300 localities, based on requests from its clients. Moreover, last year, the company expanded the 4G coverage to the main national roads, and the highways linking Bucharest to the seaside resorts and the western part of the country.
Also in 2016, Orange Romania and railway operator CFR have implemented a pilot project via which the passengers who took the train from Bucharest to Constanta or the mountain resorts benefited from free Wi-Fi at 4G speeds.
Orange is the biggest local telecom operator in terms of revenues and number of clients. The group serves more than 10 million customers in Romania.
