Oscar-winning documentary to be screened at film festival in Romania this spring
CitizenFour, winner of Documentary Feature award at this year’s Oscars, will be screened for the first time in Romania at One World festival in Bucharest.
CitizenFour makes the portrait of Edward Snowden, a former analyst for the National Security Agency (NSA), who released thousands of classified documents.
The feature depicts Snowden’s tense days in a hotel in Hong Kong, his meetings with journalists who published details about the NSA and about the electronic surveillance carried out in the US, which allegedly affected international political leaders such as President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff and German chancellor Angela Merkel.
CitizenFour is included in the festival’s Demo+/-cratie section, alongside six other titles: Euromaidan, Rough Cut, Second Chance, Pixadores, The Term, Iranian and Killswitch.
Virunga, one of the other films nominated at the Oscars for the Documentary Feature award, will also be screened at this year’s edition of the festival.
One World Romania, a documentary festival dedicated to human rights, will take place in Bucharest between March 16 and March 22. More about the event on its official website here.
